Structura Body Therapies founders Jason and Nancy Prince started their private practice in 1998 with a vision to provide therapy that did not just give temporary relief for their clients but that addressed the root cause of their discomfort. Structural Integration: History
Structural Integration was developed by Ida P. Rolf, PhD (1896–1979), a biochemist who asked a practical question: how must the body be organized so it can stand and move with less strain in gravity?
Rolf studied yoga, osteopathy, and other movement and manual traditions, then built a systematic method of hands-on fascial work and movement education. Her aim was not to chase a single symptom, but to reorganize the body’s structure as a whole—so posture, movement, and support could work together more efficiently.
To make the work teachable, she created a structured series of sessions, often called the Ten Series. In the 1960s the work became widely known at the Esalen Institute, where students nicknamed it “Rolfing.” In 1971 she founded a training institute in Boulder, Colorado. After her death, multiple schools continued the work under the original name, Structural Integration.
Today, Structural Integration remains a method of fascial reorganization and movement education—focused on alignment, ease, and functional balance throughout the body.
